Commitment to Accurate Braille Translation for Tactile Signage:

Sign Language has completed numerous large tactile sign installations including EmX signage, Eugene State Office Building, Salem General Services Building, Springfield Justice Center, and Women’s Care Physicians & Surgeons, RiverBend site.  Because these projects required detailed review of hundreds of Braille translations, one of Sign Language’s owners learned Braille characters and basic syntax.  While he is not an accredited translator, he is experienced in proofreading Braille, and is able to spot common errors in layout, capitalization, syntax and spelling. Sign Language has also developed a technique to superimpose a grid graduated in recommended Braille dot spacing to catch problems in the spatial layout of Braille translations which would not otherwise be apparent.  When a higher level of Braille review is required, such as for the EmX project, Sign Language retains the services of Library of Congress certified Braille translators.
